The Soccer Player preview: "Ryan Giggs"

Giggs holds a slew of football records including being the most decorated player in British Football history, as well as the most successful English League winner as he collected his 10th FA Premier League winning medal on 11 May 2008.

Giggs was the first player in history to win the PFA Young Player of the Year award consecutively and as of today has played and scored in every single season of the FA Premier League since its inception, also holding the league's records for most all time goal assists with 289 assists in 535 appearances. Giggs has had a stellar domestic and continental career and is the first player in UEFA Champions League history to have scored in 12 successive seasons, on top of being elected into the PFA Team of the Century in 2007[2], the English Premiership Team of the Decade, in 2003, as well as the FA Cup Team of the Century. Giggs is also the only United player to have played in all 10 Premier League winning teams and the only Manchester United player to have played in both League Cup winning teams. At the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final, held on 21 May 2008, Giggs surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 758 appearances for Manchester United to become the club's all-time leader in appearances.
On the International level, Giggs played for the Welsh national team prior to his retirement from international football on 2 June 2007, and was once the youngest player to ever represent his country. As well as the many honours Giggs has received within football such as being named in the Football League 100 Legends, he was awarded an OBE in the Queen's 2007 Birthday Honours List, and was inducted into the exclusive English Football Hall of Fame in 2005, for his services to English Football.

Samir Nasri
Early life
Nasri's parents moved to France from Algeria. His father is from Constantine and his mother is a native of Biskra. Nasri grew up in La Gavotte Peyret, in one of Marseille's tough northern suburbs. He often played on the streets, where in fact he learnt a majority of his skills. He used to play for the local gang team, but after much violence, his parents signed him up to the football club Pennes Mirabeau at the age of 8 years. He spent two seasons there before being scouted by Olympique de Marseille.

Marseille
Nasri began playing with Marseille when he was 9 years old. He started playing in Ligue 1 in the 2004/2005 season at the age of 17, when he started 13 games and came on as a substitute in 11 games, scoring one goal. The next season got him experience in both the UEFA Cup (10 games; no goals) and the Intertoto Cup (one game; one goal). In the 2006/2007 season he scored his first goal of the year in Ligue 1 late in the season on April 29, 2007, when he started the match against Sochaux and helped his team to a 4-2 victory. This win allowed Marseille to climb into fourth place with just four games remaining, putting them into the UEFA Cup qualifying spot.
On May 20, 2007, Samir Nasri was named French Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year ahead of Jimmy Briand and Karim Benzema. He was voted Marseille's player of the year by the fans, receiving 62% of the votes.
In mid-September 2007 Nasri was hospitalised after suffering from a meningitis-like virus. Nasri is renowned for his technical ability, passing and pace. He is usually used in the position of right wing due to his speed and skills.
Arsenal
On July 11, 2008 He signed for Arsenal from Olympique de Marseille on a long-term contract for £12 million. Nasri was brought to replace Aliaksandr Hleb who left for Barcelona.
He made his Arsenal debut on 30 July against VfB Stuttgart in Germany, playing for around 60 minutes in the friendly encounter. He scored on his Premier League début, against West Brom, with a close range effort after only four minutes of the first game of the season, on 16 August 2008.
International career
He has been involved in the French national set up for a long time, progressing through the Under-16s, 17s, 18s, 19s and 21s. He won his promotion to the full national squad in 2007, to which he has been called up three times. Nasri scored his first senior international goal in his third appearance for the senior team in a 1-0 win for France against Georgia on june 6, 2007, in a Euro 2008 qualifier.
He received his first cap for France on march 28, 2007 against Austria, in a home friendly match at the age of 19. He delivered a free kick low into the box from which teammate Karim Benzema scored the only goal of the match. He was named in Raymond Domenech's final squad for Euro 2008; at age 20, he was one of the youngest members of the French squad selected for the final tournament. He made two appearances as a substitute and played for 32 minutes. In the game against Italy, he replaced Franck Ribéry when Ribéry was injured, but less than 15 minutes after that, Domenech replaced him after Eric Abidal was sent off.
Previously, he was member of the France national under -21 football team. He has been part of the French national team system since he was about 14. He has won with the 2004 UEFA U -17 Championship as part of the France U-17 Football team, scoring the game winning goal in the final match.

Chelsea Football Club, IPA: [ˈtʃɛɫsi:], (also known as The Blues or previously The Pensioners) are a professional English football club based in west London. Founded in 1905, they play in the Premier League and have spent most of their history in the top tier in English football. They have had two broad periods of success, one during the 1960s and early 1970s, and the second from the late 1990s to the present day. Chelsea have won three league titles, four FA Cups, four League Cups, two UEFA Cup Winners' Cups, and have reached one UEFA Champions League final.

In 2003, the club was bought by Russian oil magnate Roman Abramovich.
The club's traditional kit colours are royal blue shirts and shorts with white socks. Their traditional crest is a ceremonial blue lion holding a staff; a modified version of this was adopted in 2005.

Wayne Rooney: My Story (Paperback)
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
Description
One of the most talked about stars in the world of soccer, Wayne Rooney now talks about . . . Wayne Rooney—no-holds-barred.
Wayne Rooney is barely twenty-two years old, and he's already one of the finest soccer players in the world. Colorful and controversial, he plays—and lives—with an intensity that's unmatched on and off the field. With remarkable candor, he now tells the true story of his life.
From his working-class upbringing on the back streets of Liverpool and his Premiership debut as a sixteen-year-old phenom to his ebullient entrance on the international scene in the 2004 European tournament and the raw drama of the 2006 World Cup, Wayne Rooney: My Story is an honest and inspiring account of a prodigiously gifted youngster and his meteoric rise to fame and fortune. It is a riveting tale of adversity and triumph, of champions and championships, of a private life that never could escape the headlines . . . and of a remarkable athlete whose destiny was forever altered when Manchester United came calling in the summer of 2004.
Manchester United Official History 1878-2002
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
For a Man U fan, this is a great video.
There is excellent footage of the Busby Babes playing, that will bring a lump to your throat ... what would these young men achieved if they had not perished in Munich ... we will never know.
The video is a bit uneven ... probably due to the availablity of footage.
A mistake ... the Ron Atkinson era is cut short and we are suddenly presented with the Fergie era. About four years goes missing, never explained.
All the great names are here, and there is footage of every major trophy won. Only the goals are shown ... would have been nice to see players such as Peter Schmiechel doing his great saves.
Moments (Paperback)
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
it's a big book with all the pages printed on high quality glossy paper, and it's full of fantastic photos.
Ronaldo himself has said that he is too young yet to write a real autobiography, and therefore "Moments" is not just the usual write-up of dates, facts and numbers that many footballers sell as books these days. Instead, he decided to share some of the events that happened in his life so far by writing short stories and adding numerous pictures.
From his early years playing for Sporting Lissabon to winning the Premier Leage with Manchester United, from childhood dreams to his father's death, from being named captain of the Portuguese National Team to everyday routine ... this book provides a very nice glimpse into the life and mind of one of the best footballers in the world today. He certainly seems to have his head (and heart) in the right place!
